As one of the very few in the Czech Republic, we operate a fully equipped experimental lab.
CEBEX operates a fully equipped experimental lab which allows us to precisely inquire into a large scale of social phenomena from binary consumer decisions to complex market mechanisms.
The power of the experimental approach lies in the simplification of reality into the form of simulated games. That together with the provision of specific incentives and the control of interactions allows us to study problems without neglecting personality traits or decision making patterns of the participants.
The aim of the research segment within CEBEX is to run scientific and research activity based upon an experimental approach, to publish its results in impactful international journals and to contribute to the integration of the Czech Republic into the worldwide behavioral movement.
The laboratory provides a facility for diverse research in the fields of social and cognitive psychology, which leads to bringing the often-over-simplified assumptions of economic theory closer to reality. For example, the following can be studied:
- Situational and environmental factors affecting human behavior (from being prone to corruption to greater job performance).
- Irrational and intuitional processes when acquiring, processing and using information about political, health, social or moral decisions.
- Cognitive processes supporting or on the contrary hindering dialogue or mutual understanding among people with distinct political or religious views.
- Perception of institutions and market mechanisms in relation to non-financial incentives such as values, identity or identification with a group.
